Kitchen Reno Essential Questions For Contractors

Having a kitchen that you love makes spending time in there so much more enjoyable. When you are thinking about kitchen renos Calgary, make sure that you find somebody who will give you exactly what you want.

The kitchen is the heart of a home and transforming your kitchen from dated to gorgeous and functional will be of the utmost importance when you are looking at companies that offer kitchen renos Calgary.

A good renovation company will be able to do all the jobs that you want, whether it is a complete remodeling of your kitchen or just some minor renovations. They will work with you to ensure that you end up with the kitchen of your dreams that is within your budget.

There are so many things that you will want to consider before going ahead and choosing a company that will give you what you want. Colors, styles, materials and the space that you have to work with will be at the top of your list. To get some inspiration take a look at pinterest, magazines, websites and display homes. You may not find exactly what you want but you can take something from each one until you have some idea of what your want for your kitchen.

When you are choosing a contractor who does kitchen renos, write a list of things that you need to ask them. Get quotes and meet the contractors until you find somebody who understands what you have to work with and what it is exactly that you are looking for. Don’t be afraid to shop around. Asking for recommendations from friends, family, colleagues and on forums is a good way to find a contractor that comes highly recommended.

Be sure to ask a few of the following questions to any potential contractor.

  • Ask to see their credentials. Find out what certification they have and what licenses they hold. Always hire a certified professional to carry out renovation work.
  • Insurance is so important. Be sure that they have comprehensive insurance in the case of any unforeseen events.
  • Do they use subcontractors and if so which part of the job are they used for.
  • Who will be your main point of contact in the renovation company. You need to make sure that you are dealing with one person all the time.
  • What is the timeline. You want to make sure you know how long your project will take.

These are just a few of the questions that you need to ask. Don’t be afraid to shop around for a contractor until you feel totally comfortable. It is your kitchen and you want to make sure that it will be perfect for you and your family for years to come.

What do you do, quickly, what’s your “elevator pitch”?
I essentially draw & paint with thread and a sewing machine, using the needle as a pencil, and the fabric as my canvas. I combine a variety of threads, fabrics and mediums to create works of two or three dimensional art. I love to explore the use of basic straight and zig zag stitch to create a cloth made of millions of tiny stitches…with some help from a water soluble fabric.

Using this technique and exploring different stitch tensions I can create 3 dimensional artwork using only stitched thread.

What you’re up to at the moment, and where can people see you and your work, in person or online?
I’m currently working on a big art project which is keeping myself and my sewing machine technically and creatively challenged.
I’m also making sure my Etsy shop is kept stocked and my custom orders are under control.
Next fibre show will be knit city in October. My studio is always open by appointment.
